Pax is a Black Shield Deathwatch Marine.

The Deathwatch are Space Marines from various chapters in the Imperium that are joined together (on loan) to fight Xenos(Aliens) wherever they pose a threat to the Imperium of mankind.

The Black Shields are those Marines who do not wish to let anyone know what chapter they originate from, whether out of shame, because the Chapter is under suspicion of the Lords of Terra(or the Inquisition) or the chapter has turned heretic or rogue.

Do the Black Shields still use their former chapter insignia or, as the name suggests, their shoulder pads are devoid of any symbols?

The Black Shields give up all ties to their former chapters and paint their right shoulder plates black to reflect this, there's no out for these warriors.

A loyalist Night Lord! Goodness me. I'm running a loyalist Night Lords army who came into the warp before the heresy and came out of it in the 41st millenium. Good to see someone also sees these guys in a good light. Thanks for this mate! this is awesome. :)

Blackshields are fun to play in Deathwatch.
Took my player group over a year to figure out he had been an Ultramarine captain.
Was my own fault, left my laptop with background story unattended.

Very nice art. Love the sinister red candles ^^
